The importance of creating awareness for IT Happiness (IT end user experience).

The overall importance of a positive IT end user experience may be evident, but the impact of IT on a day-to-day basis is not something many people are conscious of. People are frustrated when a device doesn’t function, when software doesn’t work properly or when the internet is down. But if everything is working, we take IT for granted.

We tend to quickly forget about the enjoyment, efficiency and convenience that IT brings. The development that IT has gone through and its impact on communication, collaboration and knowledge sharing cannot be underestimated. But apparently we get used to technical gains very quickly and it becomes the new standard. IT Happiness enhances quality of life and at the same time generates greater productivity, collaboration and creativity. By means of workshops, training sessions, events and publications, Yorizon contributes to raising awareness of the importance of IT Happiness. The different services and products that Yorizon offers in the field of awareness are described below.

IT Happiness awareness presentation

An inspiring presentation is a great way to explain the influence of IT on happiness. It is often used as the kick-off to an IT Happiness process or as part of a regular meeting. Yorizon works with renowned speakers to ensure an appropriate kick-off at a high level. This presentation is intended to involve the entire IT department in the dynamics between IT and happiness, in order to create understanding and support. The presentation can also be given online or a live presentation can be streamed or recorded so that employees in other countries can watch simultaneously or later.

IT Happiness workshop

If you want to achieve a higher level of IT happiness, it is important that the management understands the underlying mechanisms. With this in mind, Yorizon has developed a four-hour workshop for top and middle management. The following topics are covered during this type of workshop:

  • Insights from scientific research into the relationship between IT and happiness
  • Awareness of the higher purpose of working in IT
  • How to utilize the dynamics of enthusiasm to increase IT Happiness
  • How to create team flow
  • How to monitor IT Happiness and implement the results
  • Tips for employees to work in a more customer-focused way

IT Happiness Academy

To ensure that awareness of the importance of IT Happiness spreads within your organization, it is advisable to form a group with IT Happiness ambassadors. This group usually consists of a number of committed employees with an interest in IT Happiness and is led by the Chief IT Happiness Officer.

Yorizon has developed a course to train these ambassadors and the officer. In this one-day training course, employees are introduced to the latest insights, and practical tools are provided to increase IT Happiness within your organization.

The following topics are covered during this type of training course:

  • Insights from scientific research into the relationship between IT and happiness
  • Awareness of the higher purpose of working in IT
  • How to use the dynamics of enthusiasm to increase IT Happiness
  • How to create team flow
  • How to monitor IT Happiness and implement the results
  • Tips for working in an even more customer-focused way

After the training, both the ambassadors and the officer will have sufficient knowledge and inspiration to spread the IT Happiness philosophy within your organization.

Selfie

An IT Happiness SELFIE is also called a mirror assessment. The IT organization holds up a mirror to itself and tries to estimate what scores the internal customer will give in the IT Happiness Monitor. This ensures awareness and broad support of IT Happiness among IT employees. If there are subsequent discrepancies (GAP), it provides an extra incentive to act or, conversely, to be proud when results are better than expected. In addition, the results may contribute to refining the content of the measuring instrument used in the Monitor.

IT Happiness communication

An important part of setting up the IT Happiness programme is the communication around it. Not only towards IT staff, but also towards the IT end users. By reaching both target groups in creative ways, awareness and recognizability increase here as well. Examples of communication tools that can be used are posters & banners and/or video messages, but also, for example, getting IT staff to wear sweaters/T-shirts; these all give the theme visibility. The CIO or IT person with final responsibility also play an important role in the communications. By communicating about the how & why of IT Happiness within the organization from the perspective of their own role, the importance of IT Happiness increases even more. Yorizon supports this with instructions, advice and workshops.

IT Happiness Events

Yorizon organizes events about themes related to IT Happiness. Small and large events where their customers are inspired with new insights and have the opportunity to share ideas with other IT professionals. In addition, an online IT Happiness community platform is being developed. Here, IT professionals can get in touch with each other and engage 24/7, share experiences and exchange ideas on the theme of IT Happiness.

Publications and blogs

Yorizon publishes articles and blogs on themes related to IT Happiness. Insights from scientific research, meta-analyses of its own data, and interviews with customers and other IT experts are often the starting point for such publications.

Through workshops, presentations, training and assessment tools, we contribute to raising awareness of the importance of IT Happiness and the enthusiasm of IT management and IT employees.
